Welcome First Timers!

Welcome to the wonderful world of the First Timers.  We are a community of first and long time cooks, dedicated to helping people learn how to cook and making it fun.

For those of you who are new to the community, welcome!  We look forward to hearing from you and for you to share your insights, thoughts, successes, failures, stories, poems, pictures, videos, whatever you want.  This is your place . . .

To start things out, I will take a second to introduce myself.  My name is Shawn Bucher, and I have been cooking and working in foodservice since I was about 16.  As far as my professional life goes, just read the author page on the First Timer’s Website, that will give you an idea about who I am professionally.

Personally, I am happily married man with a wonderful wife, with whom I have been married to for just over 3 years now.  I have lived all over the Western United States and I love warm weather. My family, close and extended, is scattered all over North America and Canada…I’m an Aries…I like stuff…And that’s me in a nutshell. You may think I’m being vague (because I am), but after a few weeks, you will probably know more than you want to know about me…

The most important thing you will need to know, is that I love food.  I go on alot of outings and eat alot of different things with alot of different people and we take pictures.  So get ready to see my adventures, and share yours with all of us.

Shawn Loves it, Kara can\'t believe it.Ahhh the goodness of boiled shell fish, corn, potatoes, onions and 3lbs. of butter.

To get things started, let me introduce you to one of my favorites.  Its called a Cajun Boil or Crawfish Boil, depending on what part of the country you’re in.  I’m not really sure why I like it so much.  It might be for the reaction that I get from people when I eat it (note the look on my sister-in-law’s face in the picture), or that I love to eat anything using just my hands.  I think that the fact that its a mixture of some of my favorites drenched in more butter than anyone should eat at one sitting is what puts this up there.

If you ever get the chance, try it out.  I’m not going to tell you something like, “you won’t regret it,” because chances are you may.  But I will say, its worth the bragging rights to say that you have done it.

Way to go. The website looks great. I want to see your book on it; what’s your ETA for it?

Your Aunt’s DVD looks interesting. I might have to get that too.

    Keep in touch.
